Web-App Cases – reviewed

The following PDF shows a configuration for a farm in Nigeria. The results show that a solar panel surface of 113.530 square meters and a pump capacity of more than 18.000kW are needed. How is this possible?

Our comment:

We have a large area (6 ha) which needs lots of water. The problem is that there are really small pipes for so much water!
It is a good example where you can demonstrate the effects of pipe diameter:
If you only increase the lateral feeder pipeline to 50 mm, you have just a bit more than 10 % of your original power rating:

And if you use a diameter of 100 mm for all pipelines, you even can get get down to 72 kW:

So you see, how much the pipe diameter influences the required power of the pump and how much you can come down with pipes of a bigger diameter! It could make sense to choose even bigger pipes!
